We all used to grow up reading moral stories from Panchatantra, Daadi Ma ki kahaniyan, Malgudi Days, and so on. Every child loves to read stories and books. I also have daughters, who have their very own small library at home, because of their love for books. One lazy day, I also had a chance to peep up one story entitled “The Thief’s Sacrifice“
The Thief’s Sacrifice
This is a story of three friends and a thief. After condemned by their parents’ , The three friends worked hard for their livelihood and earned a lot of jewels (gems) in return. All of them decided to go back to their village.
While crossing a jungle they got caught by group of dangerous robbers. Since when they are about to get killed by those robbers, the Thief, who was following them from the jungle with a aim to rob them came in front and sacrificed his life and saved the others’.
By reading this story, I got a chance to understand the real meaning of the word “Kindness” and “Sacrifice“.
Kindness: an act of being considerate and helpful towards other people.
Sacrifice: Given up something in the benefit of another person. It is the ability to protect others for their own benefit not for your benefit.
Like in the story, the thief, who is supposed to be rude, rough and evil but he was not like that at all. I agreed that initially, he followed them out of his greed as he wanted to kill them and rob them but when he saw that all of them along with him are in danger, he thought otherwise and decided to sacrifice his own life to protect the others.
Conclusion
In the end, I must say “Kindness and Sacrifice” are accompanying. Without kindness nobody can sacrifice anything for others and a feeling to sacrifice comes only in a kind-hearted person. For me, the thief was a very kind-hearted and nice person irrespective of his nature of work.
Never judge a person by his profession, cast or look.
